Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro to soon get MIUI 9.5 stable ROM

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro was announced in India in February. The device comes with many highlights such as 18:9 display, Snapdragon 636 SoC (first smartphone to use this processor), dual rear cameras, and 4GB/6GB RAM. All these highlights come at affordable price points of Rs. 13,999 and Rs. 16,999 However, the device was launched with Android 7.1 Nougat and not the latest Android Oreo build.

A few weeks back, the Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched in China as the Redmi Note 5. The notable difference is that the Chinese variant runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. Now the Redmi Note 5 Pro in India is also believed to receive the Oreo update soon. A recent XDA Developers report reveals that the MIUI 9.5 Global Stable ROM for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro has been leaked.

New Features

The report citing a tester of this update revealing what we can expect from it. It states that the MIUI build based on Android 8.1 Oreo has relatively fewer bugs and renders excellent battery life as opposed to the beta build, which was leaked earlier. The Redmi Note 5 Pro is expected to receive all the MIUI 9.5 features including the gesture support seen in the iPhone X. Notably, this feature is getting popular in the Android ecosystem and many OEMs are rolling out this feature to their devices via updates.

The MIUI 9.5 Global Stable ROM brings the Project Treble support to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. Notably, this was already revealed in the leaked beta build as well. The smartphone also gets the dual 4G support after receiving the latest stable version of Android Oreo. Well, the Android 8.1 Oreo update will bring the dual 4G and dual VoLTE support to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Already, the smartphone received the Face Unlock support with a previous update.

Given that the MIUI 9.5 global stable ROM based on Android 8.1 Oreo for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro has been leaked, we can expect that it will be rolled out to the eligible smartphones in the coming weeks.
