Xiaomi Mi 5s may come with a 3D Touch sensor
3D Touch to become a mainstream Android feature?
A recent report had mentioned that the Xiaomi Mi 5s handset would feature a 3D Touch like feature on board, which would allow users to conduct certain functions on the phone using a pressure sensitive display. A new rumor is talking about this feature again, although we don’t have a timeline on when exactly the handset will be released.
The previous rumor also mentioned that the Mi 5s would be packing 6GB of RAM, which is not inconceivable given what we’ve seen from the mobile industry so far. The latest report also goes on to mention the existence of dual rear cameras as well as a fingerprint scanner.
However, it goes without saying that the 3D Touch display will be the highlight feature on the Mi 5s. The 3D Touch display on the Apple iPhone 6s and the 6s Plus allows users to long press (with pressure) on certain app icons to open up a row of options, while some third party developers have taken the integration to the next level, offering shortcuts to most used features amongst other innovative use cases.Read more ↓
It will be interesting to see what Xiaomi comes up with, although we don’t expect the functionality to be a lot different than what we see right now on 3D Touch equipped devices.
