Samsung Galaxy S9 tipped to come with enhanced iris scanner to take on iPhone X Face ID
iPhone X is special and its Face ID is one of its most defining feature of the device. Ever since Apple announced the iPhone X, the phone has been in the limelight — for both good and also for a few wrong reasons. Wrong mostly because of its Face ID feature. This is because hackers are reportedly exploring ways to break the Face ID — which Apple – at the iPhone X launch claimed can be bypassed only once in 1,000,000 cases. Recently a 10-year old boy managed to unlock his mother’s iPhone X — the video of which was also uploaded on YouTube. Samsung is apparently taking these reports very seriously and planning to leave no stone unturned to bring an enhanced iris scanner for its upcoming flagship device — Galaxy S9. With this, the South Korean smartphone manufacturer aims to take on the iPhone X’s killer feature.
Samsung is expected to announce its next flagship phones aka Galaxy S9 and S9+ at MWC 2018 — which will happen sometime around the end of February. Ahead of the official launch, the upcoming flagship devices have been subjected to several leaks and rumours, and some of its renders have also leaked online. A new report coming from ET News suggests Samsung Galaxy S9 lineup will come with almost the similar hardware setup and basic specs. The difference will be in the software department.Read more ↓
Galaxy S9 will come with iris scanning technology. Samsung is apparently planning to develop new software to make its face recognition speedier and safer than S8. It is basically aiming to reduce the delay in recognising the face and scanning the iris of users.
As the Galaxy S9 launch is nearing. The phone has now been spotted on GeekBench. The benchmark listing reveals a lot about the phone from the specs point of view. The listing suggests that Samsung’s 2018 flagship smartphone will be powered by the company’s own Exynos 9810 Octa-core processor. Previously leaked reports suggested that the phone will be announced in two variants — one with Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 845 chipset, while the second variant will come with Exynos chip.
The benchmark listing further reveals that the Galaxy S9 will be launched with Android Oreo OS. It further reveals that the device will come with 4GB of RAM. The phone will look much like the S8 – and boast infinity display with an aspect ratio of 18:9.
Both Galaxy S9 and S9+ are tipped to launch in two variants. The base model is expected to come with 64GB of internal storage, while the top end edition may come with 128GB of internal storage. Alongside, Samsung is likely to also announce a limited edition model of the S9 phones with 256GB of storage.
