Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge users in India get December security update
The December security patch for Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge has been rolled out in India.
Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge users in India have started receiving the December security updates. The update is more than 300 MB in size and brings about device stability improvements and bug fixes. Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will be getting software version G930XXU1BPL2 and G935XXU1BPL2 respectively.
Users can check for upgrades in About Device menu in Settings. The December security patch has been rolled out with some enhanced features and further improvements to performance of the phones. However, the update details doesn’t specifically highlight what new features are being added to the Galaxy S7, S7 edge smartphones.
Interestingly, Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are rumoured to get the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update directly. A XDA forum user posted a screenshot which says, “We are pleased to announce that we will support Android 7.1.1 from the official N OS release.”
To recall, Samsung had earlier released its ‘Galaxy Beta Program’ allowing Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge users to test Android 7.0 Nougat on their devices. But the South Korean technology company did not give out the final dates for when the Nougat update will rolled out for the smartphones.
Google has officially rolled out Android Nougat 7.1.1 for the Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 9, Pixel tablet, Nexus player and General Mobile 4G (Android One) devices. The upgrade brings with it features such as app shortcuts, reset button, smart storage, new camera app, new gender diverse emojis, support tab and more.
