Chinese tech giant Huawei has announced the company’s 2016 flagship smartphone- the P9 in the Indian market at a price of Rs 39,999 . The smartphone will be available on Flipkart by today 3 pm and will soon sell on Croma and Poorvika retails stores.

Co-engineered with Leica, the imagining pioneer, the highlight of smartphone is its dual-camera setup, which gets two ‘Leica-certified’ 12MP cameras along with dual-LED dual tone flash. One camera takes monochrome shots while the other captures photos in colour. The phone’s software algorithm then combines both these images into one and creates the final photo.

The 12MP sensors come with phase detection autofocus. As per Huawei, the B&W sensor adds 200 per cent more light information and 50 per cent more contrast to colour images when it’s combined with the color sensor, compared to using just the regular snapper.

Coming on to the other aspects of the handset, Huawei P9 sports a 5.2-inch 1080p IPS-NEO LCD display and is powered by a 2.5GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 955 processor. This is Huawei’s flagship SoC and is clubbed with 3GB RAM and 32GB memory with support for expandable storage.

As far as the design goes, Huawei P9 is built out of metal and is very premium to look at. The smartphone measures just 6.95mm in thickness, and is one of the slimmest smartphone in the market. Despite its unibody metal design, P9 is quite light and fits easily in one hand.

During the launch event, Huawei mentioned that you can hold the P9 in any which way and that will not affect the signal transmission through the smartphone. This is because Huawei P9, unlike other metallic smartphones in the market, uses a triple antenna technology to make sure that signal transmission does not suffer in everyday usage. We will test such claims while testing the handset in the upcoming week.

The dual-SIM smartphone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based Emotion UI 4.0 and supports 4G LTE connectivity.

Besides, the smartphone also comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, which as per Huawei is their Level 4 security grade sensor. Huawei P9 is backed by a 3,000mAh battery unit.

Besides, Huawei also announced the stainless steel version of the Huawei watch that comes with Sapphire crystal. The smartwatch boasts a 1.4-inch AMOLED display and runs Android wear. The smartwatch is priced at Rs 22,999.
