The dual cameras on the back include a 16-megapixel sensor for regular photos and a 2-megapixel sensor for shots in portrait and bokeh mode.

Here are the key highlights of the new smartphone

■ The Honor 7X looks very similar to the Honor 9i, launched last month at Rs17,999, and has a similar metal chassis and thin bezel design. The only cosmetic difference is the position of the cameras. There is only one camera on the front panel and the dual cameras on back are horizontally placed.

■The thin bezel design and the 18:9 aspect ratio gives the 5.93-inch screen a wider but more immersive feel. It has resolution of 2,160×1,080p.

■The new smartphone runs the new Kirin 659 octa-core processor based on 16nm architecture, which makes it more power efficient than smartphones with a 28nm processor.

■ Huawei has clubbed the processor with 4GB RAM in both 32GB and 64GB storage variants. Users who want more storage can add up to 256GB more via microSD cards. The only damper is that the microSD card is built on one of the two SIM trays.

■ The other advantage of thinner bezels is that it keeps the smartphone’s size in check. The Honor 7X is 156mm tall and just 75.3mm wide. It weighs 165g, which is quite low by the standards of a conventional 6-inch screen smartphone.

■ Android Oreo is still not the primary OS version for most phonemakers. The Honor 7X is no different. It runs on Android 7.0 with Emotion UI on top.

■ The dual cameras on the back include a 16-megapixel sensor for regular photos and a 2-megapixel sensor for shots in portrait and bokeh mode.

■ Like most modern day affordable smartphones, the Honor 7X has finger print sensor. It is placed at the back and offers a faster and more secure alternative to password or pattern when it comes to unlocking the smartphone.

■ For connectivity, there is a micro USB slot and 3.5mm jack. Both are placed side by side at the bottom side panel alongside the speaker.
