Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to go after Google, sets sight on search advertising?

We’ve known Facebook’s ambition to outdo Google in search, and we also know howcompetitive the social media search giant can go. Now, during the most recent earnings call, Mark Zuckerberg made it clear how the company can continue to grow with its mobile shift. However, it is search advertising that he could put to use anytime soon made us sit straight and take notice.

Zuckerberg has reportedly made it clear that search advertising is in pipeline, but didn’t divulge any further details. According to Business Insider, Zuckerberg sees search just like any other Facebook product, and claims it will go through the same three-stage process like any other Facebook product. It is currently said to be in the second stage.

So, the first stage is introducing the product to users, second involves making it organically useful and finally charging businesses for the features. Zuckerberg believes that monetising search features is something the company will work at some point of time, but there is no mention of the exact time frame.

The latest figures – 1.71 billion users by adding 60 million users in the quarter, all time high stock price of $123.34, steady growth at 3.63 percent compared to last quarter, 84 percent ad revenue from mobile, total ad revenue of $6.24 billion – Facebook has posted profit and growth.
