BSNL Launches Smartphone Data Plan With 4GB Of 3G Daily Over 90 Days, To Compete With Jio
Not just private telecom operators, it seems Reliance Jio has been making waves that have even shook Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited out of its stupor. The telco has now announced a new 3G mobile data plan for prepaid users at the price of Rs 444.
Called ‘BSNL: Chaukka – 444’ the scheme offers customers 4GB of 3G downloads per day for 90 days. This is similar to its ‘Triple ACE’ plan launched in April, which offered 3GB of 3G data per day for Rs 333. In addition, this plan is solely for prepaid users of the service.
Whether BSNL’s new plan really matches up to Jio is debatable, despite that being the intent. Take Jio Prime’s Rs 309 scheme for instance. It offers free voice calling and SMS, as well as 1GB of 4G data per day for 84 days. Subsequent recharges offer the same rates bonus, except for the much shorter duration of 24 days. So while Jio does have the speed bonus over BSNL, the latter’s plan could mean more value for your money if you tend to burn through your internet at a more steady pace.
However, one thing we can be happy about is that Reliance Jio’s explosive entry has sufficiently rocked the telecom boat in way that’s beneficial to customers. Prices are some of the lowest we’ve seen, LTE capabilities are improving, and even smartphone adoption rates are up.
So sit, back, pick your side in the telecom war, and reap the benefits of cheap smartphone data.
