Amazon will no longer accept return of phones, other gadgets
Amazon India has changed the policy of dealing with returns and refunds. According to the company’s updated terms and conditions, it will no longer accept returns for mobile phones, cameras, laptops etc. Instead, it will only offer replacement.
This means if you buy a phone from Amazon India and find it faulty after you have received it, you won’t be able to return it and get your money back. Amazon will acknowledge that you have received a faulty phone and will give you a replacement. The new policy has come in effect because people were presumably misusing the earlier policy.
“All tablets, laptops, desktops, monitors, cameras and camera lenses that are fulfilled by Amazon and purchased on or after 11th May 2016 are eligible for a replacement only policy and will no longer be eligible for refunds. In case you have received a defective or a damaged product, you will be eligible for a free replacement,” said Amazon.Read more ↓
The e-retail company also says that the in case of a faulty product the request for replacement will have to be made within 10 days of purchase.
While the Amazon policy, which allowed refunds was generous, the new one is more in line with what other e-retail firms in India offer.
Globally too Amazon announced a few changes to its consumer policies on Tuesday. The company said that its price protection policy, which used to shield consumers from heartburn in case of a price drop after they purchased a product, would no longer be applicable on any product except TVs. Earlier, if you bought a phone and the price on that dropped a week after purchase, Amazon used to refund the extra money that a consumer paid for the device at the time of the purchase.
“Amazon.com consistently works toward maintaining competitive prices on everything we carry and will match the price of other retailers for some items. Amazon.com will price match eligible purchases of televisions with select other retailers. For all other items, Amazon.com doesn’t offer price matching,” the company notifies on its website.
